Star Wars Galaxies: SWG Team Profile: Steven "CancelAutoRun" Wyckoff

image

What is your real name? Steven Wyckoff.

What is your official title/position? I am a Programmer.

How long have you been working on Star Wars Galaxies?A month.

What profession do you like to play in Star Wars Galaxies? I'm still exploring all of the professions, but so far bounty hunter is the one I have spent the most time with.

What do you enjoy most about your job on SWG, and why? In general, being a video game programmer is a really awesome job. I love being able to go to work and make something that people will play and enjoy. With SWG in particular, I think it is great fun working with the Star Wars universe and trying to make the player experience as fun and immersive as possible.

What types of things do you do in a typical day at work? I spend most of my time working in code: hunting bugs, implementing new features for the next chapter, things like that. I also get to chat with other team members about how we want things to work for the players.

What other types of video games do you enjoy playing? I go through stages so I end up playing a lot of different kinds of games. I play a bunch of strategy/RTS/simulation type games on the PC. I also play RPGs and action/platformers on consoles.

What's your favorite video game of all time and why? I hate to pick just one, but I would have to say that SimCity 2000 is my all time favorite. I have spent countless hours playing that game and I still go back to it from time to time. I think that the level of complexity is about perfect because it is possible to understand how the simulation is working, but it is still interesting to watch.

Outside of work, what do you like to do? I obviously play video games quite a bit - it's for work, I swear! Other than that, I like to dance, read comics, and play soccer and hockey. I also like to think of myself as a 'recreational' (meaning 'not very good') artist.
